and again.

I probably do this a lot. The whole start anew thing.
I'd usually clear out my entire archive of posts, and type out a long-arsed paragraph detailing how I am going to blog more and well, start anew. (oh my dear god. just reread my oldest post relating to reincarnation rebirth what not. - that was not me talking. Honestly , I have no idea what I was high on. I may be more Buddhist than I'd like to think. Har har.)

As it is, I am currently fixed on the notion that I'll be blogging a whole lot.
Procrastination tactic? Highly likely, seeing as I'm undergoing examinations. But hey. I may actually be more serious about it this time. Am even mulling over the possibility of joining the writing club/society next semester. This, my friends, is as serious as it gets. The sloth me, will Never willingly undertake extra work for no good cause.

So, how will I go about this new First post of mine.

Well. I'll make use my completely unintentional mention of Buddhism (with reference to the above) and From that, religion.

It's not gonna be some deep, controversial post, as I understand religion can be a somewhat touchy subject. (Heh, understatement with some)
It's just pure observations. With some possible side notes.

Alright. I'll start off with my coursemates. Lovely bunch. All of them, really.
The course is basically divided down the middle, fifty-fifty, into the Party People - comprising of the Caucasians well, basically, the Non-Muslims and the Nots, made up of the Muslims and myself occasionally. Obviously, we're not completely segregated into two groups, but in the "close knit" sense, we kind of are. Basically, half my course are people of Middle Eastern origins, and the other Half, proper British people. *side note. Heck. Even amongst those of Middle Eastern origins, there is a whole other division. Pakistanis Vs. Egyption, Libyan, Iraqis etc.

Anyway, before I digress any further.

It's common knowledge (or at least I hope it is) that most Middle Eastern people, the girls especially, are pretty much, drop dead gorgeous. Ridiculously lush eye lashes, Amazing skin, The exotic eyes. Everything. It defines Beauty.

So, I have nothing against girls who wear hijabs and hide their hair. It's a custom and I'm not in any place to judge that. And hey, some actually make it work and are Stunning regardless.

But, I do wonder, though, What would make one suddenly decide to wear one after say, twenty years. Yes, it could be due to the prodding and constant goading of immediate circles of friends. Apparently, it makes you not as good a Muslim if you don't cover up your head. So I've heard. I would not know really. There are so far, two girls -one Iraqi and one Pakistani, who have opted to put on a hijab. And, they both had the most beautiful hair. I can honestly say, what a waste. I'd kill for hair like that. Figuratively kill, of course. I don't believe in killing. Exception to that rule, bugs. I'd probably kill, Hmm. A bee for hair like that.

That's the thing about Uni, I guess. It opens you up to new things, new experiences, new people and new outlooks on life. So, yea. These girls, I'm guessing have discovered a whole new perspective to their religion.

I'm just going to relate a couple more anecdotes that I've encountered, one amusing, others just plain indescribable. You don't want to say, that's going a little too far because that would be disrespectful, and Hence, you are left at a lost for words.

Okay. So, I was shown this particular discussion on Facebook.
Is it alright to shake hands with the member of the opposite sex while wearing gloves?
No, because that would be saying it's alright to hug someone because they have clothes on.
Just do what I do. If the person seems intelligent, explain your customs and religion to them. With nimwits, simply say swine flu.

At clinical sessions, we are meant to roll our sleeves up to our elbows for hygiene purposes. Well, let's say One was unwilling to do so. One is the only one who wears the aprons with additional 'handwarmers' - they look like leg warmers but are to be worn on arms.

I deliberately leave my flat early, and class early to avoid having to walk with him. Occasionally if he sees me, he tries to catch up and walk together. I really wish he wouldn't.

I suppose that at the end of the day, it depends on how you interpret your religion's teachings and customs.
It doesn't matter what others think. It's on you.

I was talking to another of my course mates. And I was basically saying, as long as you're a good person, It doesn't matter if you're religious or not.
To which he replied, What is a good person?

Okay, you're going to have to Excuse this. It's late and I'm running on excess adrenaline from the morning's MCQs. I'm probably going to read this tomorrow and decide to remove it completely. Tell me if it offends anyone. And by anyone, Vana, I mean you, coz well, not many people read my blog, and well, you get updates on my blog somehow.
